What is the web developers complex?
In my opinion the web developers complex entails the struggles we face between design, functionality and deployment. It's easy to go to school to learn the techniques in developing websites and rich internet applications; however something that is not taught in school, books or articles are the struggles that come with this field. Something that many beginners don't understand and deny to accept. The fact is that developers must please all three partys while pleasing themselves at the same time; they must please the designer to make sure that the product is built according to the design, they must make sure that the product that is to be developed works correctly and they must make sure that the product is launched on the date that was accepted. All this and adhering to the industries standards are all sources of struggle that the developer faces.
There are several reasons why I restricted my profiles on Facebook and Twitter today. I can rant on this forever, but the simplest reason is due to my current point of view of how I see the internet and my life. I believe that both entities are different and because of this, I have chosen to limit how much I share myself with the world. Not every little detail about myself has to be out there, only enough for people to get in contact with me and develop a connection; whether this connection is professional, personal or etc..
This week I began my last physical quarter at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology).
Ill be taking the following courses: Fundamentals of Chemistry, Fundamentals of Imaging Science, Innovation and Invention and Psychology of Personality. Chemistry and Imaging Science are both freshman classes and I'm the super senior who slacked off and decided to leave liberal arts and sciences for my last year. I'm trying to make the best out of all the classes this quarter before I move to Irvine, CA with my fiance. However its a little frustrating when you do know that you can apply the skills that you have trained for the past four years.
The HTML:
//Here you must encapsulate the forward slash between two forward slashes; ex. ///
//Then you must escape the forward slash with a backslash; ex. /\//
var aText = "Flash/AS3/Flex";
var filterVal = aText.toLowerCase().replace(/\//g,'-');
Ex.
Flash/AS3/Flex becomes flash-as3-flex
Essentially this little script will convert the text to lowercase and go through the entire text to replace all forward slashes. Hope this helps!
The following article covers the particular topic of passing and receiving php variables within Flex 3 using both MXML and AS3 (Actionscript 3.0). Not many articles out their clearly explain this particular topic with clarity; therefore ive taken the liberty of explaining the code involved and including sample files that everyone can use to easily create dynamic web apps.
Hey Everyone,
Just thought I'd post this pretty neat video I saw the other day on VIMEO, definitely check it out! It has awesome motion graphics and sequences that should inspire not only us to be better people overall but also to be the best that we could be in the area of expertise we are all involved in; whether that is motion graphics or being a heart surgeon we should strive to do what we love and go beyond just being good in what we do.
